Solubility of Hydrogen, Carbon Monoxide, and 1-Octene in Various Solvents and Solvent Mixtures

Abstract: The solubility of H2 has been measured as a function of pressure in ethanol + water and various solvents at (298 and 323) K. The results are compared with theoretical predictions for H2 in different solvents and some mixtures and found to agree within ±10% error, except for acetonitrile. The solubility of CO in 1-octene has also been measured. Liquid−liquid equilibrium for the 1-octene + water + ethanol system was measured at (298 and 323) K, but the predictions of these data by the UNIFAC−UNIQUAC models were … Show more

“…It is clear that all the substrates show very high conversion ([99%) over Ru(Phen) 2 Cl 2 and [Ru(Phen) 2 Cl-NH-MCM-41]. Use of water as solvent in reaction was found most effective in the hydrogenation of unsaturated ketone compare to the other solvents (n-butanol, methanol and iso-propanol) as the solubility of gaseous H 2 is more in water as compare to other organic solvent [20].…”

“…Maximum swelling was in DMF, followed by DMSO. Nevertheless, hydrogenation reactions were carried out in methanol, since the solubility of hydrogen is higher in this solvent compared to the others (0.068 mL hydrogen/mL of methanol; 0.037 mL of hydrogen/mL of DMF) [25][26][27].…”

“…Für reines 1-Dodecen wurde ein wesentlich höherer k l aWert bestimmt als für Wasser. Dieses Verhalten wird ebenfalls in der Literatur beschrieben [12,13]. Im Falle der binä-ren Mischung 1-Dodecen/Wasser liegt der k l a-Wert unterhalb des Werts von reinem Wasser.…”
