A 76‐year‐old female with a history of chronic constipation presented with progressive abdominal pain and blood‐tinged stools at the emergency room. Upon examination, the computed tomography scan revealed bowel obstruction by a huge fecaloma impaction (9 × 7 cm) with focal thickening of the colonic wall and mural enhancement over the rectum. After gently evacuating feces manually followed by enema, subsequent colonoscopy also confirmed a large stercoral ulcer (6 × 5 cm) over the rectum with diffusely edematous and friable, sloughing mucosa. With conservative treatment, her symptoms were relieved uneventfully. Her condition improved and she was discharged after receiving education about constipation management. Constipation in the elderly population is common. However, in this instance, if left untreated, massive ulcer bleeding or perforation could occur. Therefore, such cases should be evaluated with more caution in order to prevent the development of irreversible complications.

This article has no abstract. The first 100 words appear below: An 11-year-old boy presented with 15 months history of diarrhea with up to 10-20 times small volume stool daily with mucus. It was associated with a feeling of incomplete defecation and excessive straining. The frequency of diarrhea increased to 20-30 times per day over the last 8 months. Subsequently, he developed fecal incontinence, for which he couldn't attend his school. He also had a history of significant weight loss in the last 7 months. According to his mother's statement, his body weight was reduced to 64 kg from 77 kg during this illness.

Hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection is one of the major health issues in the world presently with high tendency of leading to hepatocarcinoma, cirrhosis and liver cancer, especially if not properly managed. It has been estimated that there are about 2 billion people with a serological profile of HBV infection, and 360 million patients worldwide living with chronic HBV-associated liver disease, hence the need to find an efficient and precise diagnosis technique to drive a robust treatment for Hepatitis B virus cannot be over emphasized. The emergence of analytical device like biosensor which combines biological and physicochemical element to detect HBV in screened samples has been very helpful in providing a timely intervention to tame this virus. This review focuses on the current state of biosensor researches with respect to various in-depth application of gold nanoparticle for the detection of HBV.

Abstract: To our knowledge, our study discusses the factors involved in the pathogenesis, clinical symptoms, diagnosis, treatment, and management of patients. This review can provide recommended strategies in a comprehensive and targeted vision for patients suffering from this syndrome.
