“…RTD in horizontal flow was much narrower as compared to the vertical flow direction at the same flow rates. It was found that vertical flow is more suitable for systems involving solid particles since stirring action keeps the particles suspended 28 and a relatively high upward flow pushes the particles to the top of the cell, from where particles flow down to the next CSTR with the combined effect of gravity and relatively high flow rate (10 mL/min), which not only helps in handling the higher amount of solid phase but also narrows the RTD. Residence can be decreased in this manner, depending on the kinetics and phases of the photocatalytic reaction.…”
