Abstract: Chloroaluminate ionic liquids are commonly used electrolytes in rechargeable aluminum batteries due to their ability to reversibly electrodeposit aluminum at room temperature. Progress in aluminum batteries is currently hindered by the limited electrochemical stability, corrosivity, and moisture sensitivity of these ionic liquids.
