Abstract:For geochemical calculations of solubility equilibria between Sorel phases, Mg(OH)2, and oceanic salt solutions, the polythermal THEREDA dataset (based on the HMW model at 25°C) was extended. With both models, H+ solution concentrations in equilibrium with Mg(OH)2(s) and the 3-1-8 Sorel phase at 25°C can be calculated in good agreement. In contrast, calculated OH− solution concentrations do not agree. Using the solubility constants (lg Ks) determined up to 60°C in Part I of this work, together with available s… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
