Solar electric power for a better tomorrow

Abstract: The promise of solar electricijty based on the photovoltaic (PV) effect is well known. Why don't we see these systems all over the world? Consumers in the United States are well-known for their attraction to new technology. Why aren't PV systems appearing on roof-tops in the U.S.? The answer may be that grid-connected roof top systems are Too difficult to acquire, Too difficult to integrate with the grid, Too difficult to measure the energy Too expensive. It is essential that we make PV systems userfriendly, whi… Show more

“…A. M. Barnett, (1996) research work discussed at length about solar electric power for a better tomorrow and that this user-friendly energy is used when components and system costs reduce, as the size of the PV market is price elastic. New solar cell development, product improvement, increased current, process improvement, improved electrical contact system, and improved performance can reduce the cost of PV.…”

“…The main advantage of these systems is that they are modular and can be utilized in any scale. Photovoltaic systems require little servicing or maintenance and have typical lifetimes of about 20 years [8][9][10][11][12]. The drawback is the total capital cost of the systems which refers to issues such as installation and maintenance which are not applicable in WSN [13].…”

“…[2] Discusses about the design, development, and installation of a 100 KW utility and grid connected solar PV power plants for rural applications in India. The interconnection of the solar PV system to the grid having lots of challenges since it is intermittent in nature [3]. Now days there is an increasing interest in the solar PV systems due to the developments and researches happening in this field [4].…”
