Soils fieldwork, analysis, and interpretation to support hydraulic and hydrodynamic modelling in the Murray floodplains

Abstract: There are limited datasets which cover the heavy clays found in the Murray floodplain area. To understand the processes associated with the water balance within the Koondrook–Perricoota Forest (KPF), detailed hydraulic and hydrodynamic modelling of the flood inundation patterns and overland flow in the KPF is required. Reliable and accurate soils information is critical for any credible hydrologic or hydrodynamic modelling results. Extensive fieldwork across the entire KPF and detailed laboratory testing of th… Show more

“…The attitude detection objects of hydraulic support mainly include the support height and the attitude angle of base, top beam, and cover beam. Vaze Jai et al [ 15 ] established a mathematical model to calculate the posture in a hydraulic support using the length and angle of the column and connecting rod. Zhang Yi et al [ 16 ] proposed a straightness monitoring method for advanced hydraulic supports in order to monitor the position and posture of the supports in the roadway.…”

“…They also proposed the calculation method of yaw and roll angles of the advanced hydraulic support based on ultrasonic ranging data. Vaze et al 6 measured the length and angle of the column and connecting rod in the support process with an encoder and an inclination sensor and calculated the attitude parameters that are difficult to determine in the hydraulic support by using the established mathematical model. Ren et al 7 studied the pressure sensor, attitude sensor and other advanced sensors and integrated them into the existing hydraulic support electro-hydraulic control system, forming a comprehensive perception system of hydraulic support.…”
