Credit should be given where credit is due. Credit is first due to my parents and family who have raised me well and prepared me for the season of life that I am now in. They have always instilled wisdom and character in me. Although I am sure that I am unaware of far more than I am aware of, I remember and now understand the countless times and instances of their selfless love, sacrifice, and provision for me. All members of family have taught me, through example, the value of hard work, the importance of being thankful and content in all seasons of life, and the maturity of taking responsibility. Easily the most important thing they have taught me is how to love and represent Jesus rightly by pursuing a relationship with him and to do everything with excellence for him. They have showed me how to love and honor people and extend compassion in the way Jesus did. These lessons learned will excel me in anything I choose to pursue. Thank you Mom and Dad for past achieved victories and life obstacles you have overcome that I have been able to rest and grow under. I am forever indebted. The success I have achieved in this portion of my education and career has laid heavily on the shoulders of my advisor Dr. Nathan Slaton. When I started in his program, I struggled at being productive in my scientific writing and academic responsibilities. My thought process was underdeveloped, and understanding my research was a challenge. His patience and articulated instruction have helped me to develop far ahead of where I was when I began. My knowledge and understanding of agronomy, professionalism, and leadership have grown immensely under his guidance. His considerate yet stern and driven leadership has propelled and sharpened the knowledge and scientific thought process that I now have. His hard work, past achievements, and consistent desire to improve have been a source of wisdom and has prepared me to build a solid agronomic career. My time under Dr. Slaton's mentorship has truly been a blessing. The comradery and support of my friends and fellow coworkers Keith Center, Rasel Parvej, and Randy Dempsey have made graduate school enjoyable. I'm not sure how I would have made it through statistics without the help and countless study hours I shared with my good friend Keith Center. His friendship and late night assistance in the lab (even though we worked in separate departments), his willingness to listen in my times of frustration, and the times we spent goofing off have helped me to let go of stress and have fun. Thanks for all the help and great times buddy you've been a great friend! The comradery I received from my fellow graduate students Rasel and Randy made things around the office and lab a much more bearable. Thanks for the help with lab methods and virtually every computer program I encountered. I am very thankful to Russ and the ladies at the Altheimer Soil Lab for their help and patience with me as I learned my way around and, at times, took over large areas of their work space to complete my lab work.
