Soil organic matter content and composition in different pedoclimatic zones of Bulgaria

Abstract: Article Info Received : 13.05.2016 Accepted : 02.08.2016 The present paper focused on content, quality and composition of soil organic matter in different pedoclimatic zones of Bulgaria. The country has temperate continental climate with Mediterranean influence. There are six combinations of soil temperature and moisture regimes over the territory of Bulgaria, such as Thermic-Xeric, MesicXeric, Mesic-Ustic, Mesic-Udic, Cryic-Udic and Pergelic -Udic. Typical soil types for Bulgaria are Chernozems, Luvisols. Ve… Show more

“…The carbon in humic substances (C HA ) of soils under TOG varied between 0.62 and 1.15%, while carbon in fulvic acids (C FA ) was in the narrower range of 0.37-0.59% (Table 3). The C HA /C FA ratio was in the range of 1.25 -2.74 which points to fulvic-humic (C HA /C FA 1.0-1.5) to humic type (C HA /C FA > 1.5) of humus, according to Hristov and Filcheva (2017). Soils under IOG had C HA content in a similar range (0.58 -1.30%).…”
