Software quality assessment model: a systematic mapping study

Abstract: Quality model is regarded as a well-accepted approach for assessing, managing and improving software product quality. There are three categories of quality models for software products, i.e., definition model, assessment model, and prediction model. Quality assessment model (QAM) is a metric-based approach to assess the software quality. It is typically regarded as of high importance for its clear method on how to assess a system. However, the current state-of-the-art in QAM research is under limited investiga… Show more

“…For example, the work done by von Wangenheim et al 151 is an SLR that focuses on software process capability/maturity models. In addition, the work done by Yan et al 152 presents a systematic mapping study on quality assessment models. Our work, instead, focuses on all the models that can be derived from normative frameworks applied to software processes, which include quality and SPI.…”

“…Software quality is an important external software attribute that is difficult to measure objectively. In industrial case studies, predicting fault-proneness using OO metrics is a classic approach that has been proposed by many researchers [23]- [25]. Various hypotheses have been proposed and empirical tests of the correlations of software metrics and fault proneness have been conducted.…”

“…• A clarification of how to apply programming quality measurements; • A fundamental arrangement of measurements for every trademark; and • A case of how to apply measurements during the product item life cycle. Even though the ISO/IEC 9126 quality model is genuinely detailed, it does not cover some significant quality attributes, which add to the nature of the AOP [41], [42].…”
