Software cybernetics to infuse adaptation intelligence in networked systems

Abstract: Future network systems are expected to have various levels of adaptation capabilities: at parametric level, service-level, and application-level. These capabilities are often realized in multiple system layers, with the control logic needed for a specific capability residing in the application agents interfacing with the underlying network system services. We employ a software cybernetics approach, where an intelligent physical system module (IPW) embodies the core adaptation functionality to respond to the ch… Show more

“…Commercial systems for speech recognition, image recognition, and automatic text analysis are known. The degree of success in solving these problems depends on the degree of formalized description of the subject area [1]. Face image recognition is solved in isolation.…”

“…Software cybernetics is motivated to control the software behavior that includes the behavior of software development processes, software maintenance processes, software evolution processes as well as that of software execution itself (Cai et al, 2004). The purpose of control is to make the related software processes more efficient and effective so as to improve the quality of software systems (Ravindran and Rabby, 2013;Ravindran, 2014).…”
