In this paper we offer a comprehensive review of Sociophysics, focusing on relevant models as well as selected applications in social trading, behavioral finance and business. We discuss three key aspects of social diffusion dynamics, namely Opinion Dynamics (OD), Group Decision-Making (GDM) and Knowledge Dynamics (KD). In the OD case, we highlight special classes of social agents, such as informed agents, contrarians and extremists. As regards GDM, we present state-of-the-art models on various kinds of decision-making processes. In the KD case, we discuss processes of knowledge diffusion and creation via the presence of self-innovating agents. The primary question we wish to address is: to what extent does Sociophysics correspond to social reality? For that purpose, for each social diffusion model category, we present notable Sociophysics applications for real-world socioeconomic phenomena and, additionally, we provide a much-needed critique of the existing Sociophysics literature, so as to raise awareness of certain issues that currently undermine the effective application of Sociophysics, mainly in terms of modelling assumptions and mathematical formulation, on the investigation of key social processes.

The article develops a complex interdisciplinary paradigm, or rather a multiparadigm of bioeconomics, exemplifying the necessary role and the broader horizon of multidisciplinarity through bioeconophysics, in the context of (bio)diversity and modern morality, in a logically investigative and coherently summarized approach. A brief conceptual introduction is followed by the first section, dedicated to identifying the actual approach, going from scientific unidisciplinarity to modern multidisciplinarity, selecting and validating, out of the three hypotheses of plausible paths towards bioeconomics (BioEconoPhysics), Biophysical Economics or EconoBioPhysics, the one appropriately supported by arguments and historically motivated, but also because of the clarity of the methods and the consistency of the specific models. A second important section of the paper outlines the current context of (bio)diversity and morality, which is specific to bioeconomics, biophysics or econophysics, as well as the result of their interstitial or multidisciplinary unification, proving the usefulness of some detailed characteristic modern tendencies, relating to the opinions of, and relationships of science with ethics. Some final remarks and perspectives of econobiophysics or bioeconomics symmetrically close the outline of the article.

In 2015, the science known as econophysics, which has been developing very quickly in latest years, celebrated its 20th anniversary. Perhaps a 20-year period is too short to evaluate the importance and achievements of econophysics, but the broad scope of research and significance of certain results encouraged me to undertake such an attempt. If societies appreciate efforts by econophysicists, perhaps we will be able to avoid next economic crises and related losses. Econophysics is a transdisciplinary science based on the observation that physical objects and economic objects can share a common theory. Since logical homologies are its foundation, it is an example of the well-known isomorphism principle formulated by Ludwig von Bertalanffy. The emergence of interdisciplinary fields of knowledge is consistent with the paradigm of general systems theory. The development of a given field of knowledge is most often measured by its ability to formulate new knowledge about reality. Progress in research can be spoken of both when the application of traditional methods leads to the discovery of new facts and when new scientific laws are discovered using new methods. Econophysics is an attempt to develop economics through the transfer of research methods and techniques from physics to economics. We are therefore dealing here with a second possibility. The methods of physics most often applied in economics include the theory of stochastic processes, cellular automata and nonlinear dynamics. This study presents the most important existing achievements of econophysics and the attempts to reconcile them with traditional economic knowledge. The accomplishment of a paradigmatic correspondence between econophysics and economics, both in the local and in the global sense, is a prerequisite for using the achievements of the former in economic policy.
