Cutting wood with circular saws is a popular machining operation in the woodworking and furniture industries. In the latter sliding table saws (panel saws) are commonly used for cutting of medium density fiberboards (MDF), high density fiberboards (HDF), laminate veneer lumber (LVL), plywood and chipboards of different structures. The most demanded requirements for machine tools are accuracy and precision, which mainly depend on the static deformation and dynamic behavior of the machine tool under variable cutting forces. The aim of this study is to present a new holistic approach in the process of changing the sliding table saw design solutions in order to obtain a better machine tool that can compete in the contemporary machine tool market. This study presents design variants of saw spindles, the changes that increase the critical speeds of spindles, the measurement results of the dynamic properties of the main drive system, as well as the development of the machine body structure. It was proved that the use of only rational imitation in the spindle design on the basis of the other sliding table saws produced does not lead to the expected effect in the form of correct spindle operation.

Anorexia nervosa (AN) is found associated with increased mortality. Frequent comorbidities of AN include substance use disorders (SUD), affective disorders (AD) and personality disorders (PD). We investigated the influence of these psychiatric comorbidities on all-cause mortality with demographic and socioeconomic factors considered as confounders in the observation window between January 2007 and March 2016 for 1970 people with AN, using data from the case register of the South London and Maudsley (SLaM) NHS Foundation Trust, an almost monopoly-secondary mental healthcare service provider in southeast London. We retrieved data from its Clinical Records Interactive Search (CRIS) system as data source. Mortality was ascertained through nationwide tracing by the UK Office for National Statistics (ONS) linked to CRIS database on a monthly basis. A total of 43 people with AN died during the observation period. Standardized Mortality Ratio (SMR) with England and Wales population in 2012 as standard population for our study cohort was 5.21 (95% CI 3.77, 7.02). In univariate analyses, the comorbidity of SUD or PD was found to significantly increase the relative risks of mortality (HRs = 3.10, 95% CI 1.21, 7.92; and 2.58, 95% CI 1.23, 5.40, respectively). After adjustment for demographic and socioeconomic covariates as confounders, moderately but not significantly elevated risks were identified for SUD (adjusted HR = 1.39, 95% CI 0.53, 3.65) and PD (adjusted HR = 1.58, 95% CI 0.70, 3.56). These results suggest an elevated mortality in people with AN, which might be, at least partially, explained by the existence of the comorbidities SUD or PD.

Background. colorectal cancers (crcs) are among the most important oncological causes of death in europe. Poland belongs to countries where the mortality rates due to this cause exceed the average values for eu-28. Objectives. comparison of the number of years of life lost (ylls) due to crc between 2000 and 2014 in Poland by voivodships. Material and methods. the study was based on a dataset containing information from the death certificates of Poles who died in 2000 and 2014 (368,028 and 376,467 records, respectively). the data on deaths caused by crc (c18-c21 according to icD-10) was used for the analysis (8,517 deaths in 2000 and 11,411 deaths in 2014). seyll (standard expected years of life lost) was implemented to assess ylls. Results. in 2000, the highest number of ylls per 10,000 men was recorded in zachodniopomorskie (55.7 years), and in 2014-in opolskie (77.5 years). the increasing tendency of this measure between 2000 and 2014 in the group of men was observed in all voivodships. in the group of women, in 2000 the highest number of ylls per 10,000 was reported in lodzkie (46 years), and in 2014-in warminsko-Mazurskie (49.6 years). in women, an seyll p decline over time was noted only in lodzkie and Dolnoslaskie, and in other voivodships, its values increased. Conclusions. between 2000 and 2014, an upward tendency of ylls due to crc was observed in Poland, though with territorial differentiation. it is advisable to search for more effective methods of reducing existing inequalities between individual provinces of Poland.
