Social Integration in Contemporary Journalism: Potential and Implementation

In the article journalism is explored in the daily harmonization system of socio-psychological maturity of the civilizational process’s subjects, individual and collective. The integrative result of its functioning is the everyday creation of this maturity, its regeneration and restoration in conditions of continuous actual variability of everyday life’s world problem situations. Journalism is woven into the system of everyday life’s world self-movement from the present to the future, optimizing the everyday process of interaction between traditional and innovative in media culture as an optimizing life world factor in the everyday ‘s world system of goal-setting and goal-achievement. It is the most important media publicity component, which provides the subjects’ dynamic understanding of the current social practice of the actual variability in the processes of socio-psychological’s maturity regeneration of civilizational process participants. In the goal-setting and goal-achievement system, journalism contributes to the dynamic goal-setting harmonization and ways of realizing these goals, both in the selection of everyday thinking and daily activities samples, and in their dynamic regeneration. The article describes media publicity as a system of information exchange in the everyday life world, objectifying the intellectual interaction between those who carry out media creativity, create innovative resources, and those who use these resources in the process of optimizing their goal-setting and goal-achievement system. The integrative result of media publicity is the socio-psychological maturity of the civilizational processes subjects, both individual and collective subjects of social realities — economic, political, legal, scientific, educational, artistic, etc. Journalism carries out daily understanding of the problem situations variability, dynamically regenerating the socio-psychological maturity of the participants in the current social practice, daily optimizing its system of goal setting and goal realization within the framework of daily harmonization and modeling of the media culture.

Mutual Transformations of the Essence and Accidents of Journalism in the Information and Media Culture of Society

The article is devoted to the study of the transformations taking place in journalism and media as elements of information and media culture; the meaning and role of these transformations in social life, as well as influence of the digital revolution. The authors carried out a philosophical reflection on the changes taking place in journalism using the philosophical concepts of “essence” and “accidents”. These concepts allow, firstly, to single out the essential properties and functions of the analyzed phenomena, to separate them from non-essential and secondary ones, and secondly, to explicate the factors that contribute to the mutual transition of essential and accidental properties, the change in their dominant status and the acquisition of new mass communicative properties and meanings, which entails the transition of journalism into “pseudo-journalism”, “quasi-journalism”, “post-journalism”, and “ersatz-journalism”. The study identified the directions of non-classical journalism, popular in the media sphere: “journalism of decisions”, “constructive journalism”, “service journalism”, “civil journalism”. We analyzed the arguments of researchers and practitioners in favor of the statements of these areas as new models of journalism. The authors argue, firstly, that these directions not only transfer accidental properties to the essential core of journalism, but also displace or transform many of its essential properties and functions. Secondly, it is noted that in parallel with this, opposite trends are observed in the media sphere: the invariance of the basic properties, principles and functions of journalism is substantiated in theoretical studies, and new forms based on these principles are observed in media practices.

The interest of the topic is determined by the fact that many problems in the theory and practice of journalism in the context of the information revolution arise as a result of the digitalization of the media space, which makes it possible to carry out significant transformations in media and journalistic creativity, ensure the successful implementation of civilizational development trends, and also resolve modern challenges. The result of these transformations should be the harmonization of media culture resources. It is obvious that the emergence of new problem situations causes an urgent need to increase, firstly, the dynamics of media creativity of content producers, and secondly, everyday media consumption of this potential. The authors argue that the digital media space, having received active development in the classroom, author, editorial, economic, and technological processes, will be able to ensure the unity of consciousness and activity of these subjects, the unity of media production and media consumption. The goal of the study is to analyze the nature of the integrity of journalism operating within the digital media space. The article notes that journalism in the digital media space is called upon to fulfill an important social role: to ensure high dynamism of information exchange, social interaction between individuals and society. The authors concluded that modern journalism studies in the context of digitalization of the media space note its rapidly increasing typological capabilities as a factor of media creativity, actively promoting integration, unity of actions of individual and society in everyday media culture, which contributes to the implementation of strategies and programs for the civilizational development of society.
