“…The positive associations of these three TPB variables on intention were congruent with previous findings for the TPB 6,8,16 and previous studies applying the TPB in the context of rehabilitation 13,14 and injury prevention [9][10][11][12]42 . However, it is notable that the amount of variance in intention explained by these variables was apparently smaller in Study 1 in comparison to Study 2.…”

“…In reviewing the original construction of the PSSI scale, the four‐item measure does not account for conditional perceived susceptibility to sport injury. Within the HBM or PMT framework, inclusion of this conditional nuance to the measurement of perceived susceptibility would be extremely valuable in research seeking to understand how perceived susceptibility is influenced by preventive behaviors (Deroche et al., ). By advancing perceived susceptibility to sport injury measurement, researchers are more likely to gain a complete understanding of the construct and how it pertains to sports medicine practice.…”

“…[34] Similarly, a few studies have provided supporting evidence for the application of the TPB to explain individuals' behavior in safety and injury prevention in sport. For instance, attitude, subjective norm, and PBC have been shown to exert positive effects on intentions to wear safety gear among skaters [35] , and the future behavioral adherence to using cycling-helmets [36][37][38] . A recent study among female junior netball players found that their intention to learn correct safe landing techniques could be significantly predicted by attitude and subjective norm.…”
