ZusammenfassungIm vorliegenden Beitrag wird aufgezeigt, dass elterliches kulturelles Kapital für den Zugang zu kultureller Bildung von Jugendlichen eine wesentliche Rolle spielt. Es wird argumentiert, dass die intergenerationale Weitergabe von kulturellem Kapital einen Mechanismus darstellt, der ungleiche Chancen auf Teilhabe an kultureller Bildung von Generation zu Generation perpetuieren kann. Der Beitrag stützt sich auf die Kapitaltheorie Pierre Bourdieus und leitet zum einen eine eng daran angelehnte, elaborierte Operationalisierung für kulturelles Kapital her. Zum anderen wird auch kulturelle Bildung differenzierter als üblich in hoch- und soziokulturellen Facetten erfasst, die sowohl formale, non-formale als auch informelle Lernkontexte in allen Sparten einschließen. Die Effekte von elterlichem kulturellem Kapital auf die kulturellen Aktivitäten der Jugendlichen werden auf Basis von NEPS-Daten mit Strukturgleichungsmodellen analysiert. Es zeigt sich, dass hochkulturelle Aktivitäten am stärksten mit der elterlichen Kapitalausstattung zusammenhängen, aber auch außerschulische Kurse, die Teilnahme an Angeboten in Kulturvereinen und der Besuch einer Schule mit musischem Profil, während für kulturelle Aktivitäten in Jugendzentren keine Zusammenhänge mit dem kulturellen Kapital der Eltern nachgewiesen werden können. Die Ergebnisse unterstreichen die Notwendigkeit weiterführender Forschung, um Möglichkeiten aufzuzeigen, wie mehr Chancengleichheit in der kulturellen Bildung herbeigeführt werden kann.

Drawing on the background questionnaires in PISA 2015 for teachers and schools, this paper aims to investigate the interdependencies and influences of teacher training and ICT infrastructure on their ability and willingness to employ modern media in a classroom setting. A multi-level approach is used to account for the data structure. Our analyses show that students' background and ICT interests provide limited predictive power concerning their test performance in the PISA 2015 sample from five European countries. Moreover, teachers and principals view shortages in staff and educational material quite differently in the background questionnaires. By these findings, new research approaches may be better suited to understand the influences teachers and school characteristics have on the learning outcomes of students in large-scale assessments. This also highlights potential problems when an analysis draws on joining different sources for a combined description.
