Sneutrino driven GUT inflation in supergravity

Abstract: In this paper, we embed the model of flipped GUT sneutrino inflation -in a flipped SU(5) or SO(10) set up -developed by Ellis et al. in a supergravity framework. The GUT symmetry is broken by a waterfall which could happen at early or late stage of the inflationary period. The full field dynamics is thus studied in detail and these two main inflationary configurations are exposed, whose cosmological predictions are both in agreement with recent astrophysical measurements. The model has an interesting feature w… Show more

“…Starobinsky-like models are attractive candidates for inflation models, as they make viable predictions for inflationary observables without the need to introduce a large set of finely tuned parameters. Examples of no-scale SUGRA inflation models include sneutrino inflation, which can be consistently implemented in flipped SU (5) SUSY GUTs [268][269][270][271][272].…”

“…However we will show that the two loop contributions are suppressed compared to the tree level inflaton mass during inflation. Similar to the situation in [18], SUSY breaking scale M SB during inflation gets contributions from F S = κ 1 µM P and F S i . However the dominant contribution comes from F S i .…”

“…In [21] sneutrino hybrid inflation was introduced in supergravity framework with exact R-symmetry while Heisenberg symmetry was imposed in [22,23], in order to solve the η-problem. Non-singlet sneutrino inflation was explored in [18,24], where the η-problem was avoided by either Heisenberg symmetry or shift symmetry.…”

“…One scenario, that provides a way out of these cosmological problems associated with the string bounded domain walls (induced by D-parity breaking) and other harmful cosmological relics, is inflation [75][76][77]. Inflation can take place with the GUT scalars as inflaton and viable inflation models with SO(10) scalars playing the role of the inflation have been constructed [64,65,[78][79][80]. Any domain walls or other topological defects will be inflated away in these models, where inflation takes place following the GUT symmetry breaking scale.…”
