“…Although there are a large number of studies about CSR-CFP relationship previously, not many of them have been found to employ the similar constructs and the methodologies, thus the findings would not be equivalently compared. Famiola and Wulansari (2019), Fombrun and Gardberg (2000) and Ullmann (1985) mentioned the essential roles of mediating variables between CSR practices and CFP rather than supported their direct relationship. The research results even contradict the Managerial Opportunism Hypothesis developed by Preston and O'Bannon (1997) that postulated the negative relationship between CSR and CFP, however, partly confirm Menassa and Dagher (2019), Waddock and Graves (1997) that CSR and CFP mutually reinforce each other through a so-called virtuous circle hypothesis.…”

“…Du et al (2013) added that external stakeholders in turn can experience better total welfare thanks to company's strategic CSR. However, the mixed results from studies examining the connection between CSR practices and Corporate Financial Performance (CFP) occur due to differences in research methodology (Famiola and Wulansari, 2019;Margolis and Walsh, 2003;Menassa and Dagher, 2019) as well as studied context (Hofstede, 1980;Singh and Mittal, 2019) which may impact managers' attitudes towards CSR and their actions (Batool et al, 2016;Nguyen et al, 2015;Waldman et al, 2006).…”

“…This study sees that the economic activities of SME respondents must also be updated and current. Based on 127 respondents, only 50 SMEs were able to follow the development of information technology (Famiola & Wulansari, 2019). The rest are still in the process of using IT.…”

“…The crisis that struck Indonesia in 1997 began with the plight of the rupiah exchange rate against the US dollar and the monetary crisis that impacted the Indonesian economy, namely the economic recession (Famiola & Wulansari, 2019). This is a crucial lesson to re-examine a commercial development that really has a strong structure and can survive in any situation.…”

“…According to data from the Ministry of Agriculture, there are only 33 companies that have received green certificates and are dominated by medium and large companies (Kementerian Perindustrian, 2020). Despite limited data regarding green business in Indonesia, we find many new companies and traditional businesses starting to reveal their awareness of environmentally friendly practices, especially from the SME sector (Famiola & Wulansari, 2019;Raharjo, 2019).…”
