SMEFT analysis of mW

Abstract: We use the Fitmaker tool to incorporate the recent CDF measurement of mW in a global fit to electroweak, Higgs, and diboson data in the Standard Model Effective Field Theory (SMEFT) including dimension-6 operators at linear order. We find that including any one of the SMEFT operators $$ \mathcal{O} $$ O HWB, $$ \mathcal{O} $$ O HD, $$ \mathcal{O} $$ O ℓℓ or $$ {\mathcal{O}}_{H\ell}^{(3)} $$ … Show more

“…The U is usually fixed to zero because it is suppressed by an additional factor M 2 new /m 2 Z , which is typically small for heavy new physics. The W mass deviation is also interpreted in terms of these oblique parameters in many following analyses [39][40][41][42][43], which point out that a larger T parameter is preferred. In this section, we will discuss the contribution to the S and T parameters from the new physics in our model.…”

“…The CDF W mass and the constraint on the scale f Many analyses on the oblique parameters based on the new M W measured by the CDF collaboration have been conducted [39][40][41][42][43]. We follow the S − T contour derived in [43].…”

“…This study is motivated, in part, by recent the measurement of the W boson's mass at the CDF experiment [41]. With high significance, the collaboration reports a mass larger than predicted by precision EW data, but also one that fits naturally in the Type II Seesaw [42][43][44][45][46][47]. Subsequently, the measurement is reigniting interest in searches for doubly and singly charged scalars at the LHC [48][49][50][51].…”
