Smart streetlight system using mobile applications: secured fault detection and diagnosis with optimal powers

Abstract: A street lighting system is a very essential part of the highways and streets of a smart city. Managing power consumption and maintenance of a street light system will be a challenging task in huge countries. The proposed work is mainly focused on the minimization of power consumption in the implementation of a smart street lighting system. Also, use a mobile application for setting up the brightness levels of the lamps in an encrypted form so that an unauthorized person will not be able to modify the settings… Show more

“…In [20], researchers developed an intelligent street light system using cellphone software, in the meantime, they entrusted the communication between the sensor nodes to the nRF24L01 module and worked on some of its security issues. In general, their model is based on an Android application on a cellphone that is paired with a master node in a WSN network, which is synchronized with other common nodes that are each paired on a streetlight.…”

“…The system activates additional lighting attached to the luminaire when a pedestrian is detected. In another study [121], a mobile application was used to control SLs, allowing authorized users to adjust brightness based on ambient light, movement, and personal preferences, and to remotely monitor the system.…”

“…Dwiyaniti et al [5] address the need for modernizing public streetlight control and monitoring systems issues by developing a smart streetlight monitoring system using IoT (Internet of Things) technology. Kanthi and Dilli [6] directed their efforts toward minimizing power consumption within smart street lighting implementations while ensuring security through encrypted brightness level adjustments via a mobile application. Liu et al [7] combines remote sensing technology with ground investigation, encompassing physical measurements of lighting attributes and surveys of pedestrians' safety and visual comfort perceptions, with multiple regression analysis, in order to evaluate the perceived quality of street lighting.…”
