Smart Street Light Using Intensity Controller

Abstract: Smart street light is an intelligent control of street lights to optimize the problem of power consumption of the street , late in night. Currently, usual street lights are automatically turn on when it becomes dark and turn off when it becomes bright. This is huge waste of energy in the entire world as it is an essential community service, but current implementation is not efficient. Conventional street lights are being replaced by Light Emitting Diode (LED) street lighting system, which reduces the power con… Show more

“…In the process of the LED lighting system, the pulse-width modulation alternates between 0 and 1 for altering the light dim output. Figure 8 shows the LED connecter for the sensor node, and Figure 9 shows pulse-width modulation variations corresponding to the digital signal values [24].…”

“…The existing proposals for smart lighting are mainly based on the use of presence detectors installed along the street [84], [85] or on each street lamp [86]. These devices basically consist of an infrared sensor that detects pedestrians [87], [88].…”

“…Street lights today consume a lot of energy due to the poor intensity and efficiency controls [1], [2]. The current problem with conventional systems is long operating hours which cause a lot of electricity costs and are a big waste if not taken seriously [3]- [5]. Currently, streetlight technology, especially in public buildings, is still relatively traditional with minimal means of measuring how much light enters the street and the old reliability standards and sometimes does not take advantage of the new technical growth [6], [7].…”
