Smart Internal Bio‐Glues

Abstract: Although smart bio-glues have been well documented, the development of internal bio-glues for non-invasive or minimally invasive surgery is still met with profound challenges such as safety risk and the lack of deep tissue penetration stimuli for internal usage. Herein, a series of smart internal bio-glues are developed via the integration of o-nitrobenzene modified biopolymers with up-conversion nanoparticles (UCNPs). Upon irradiation by near-infrared (NIR) light, the prepared smart bio-glues can undergo a ge… Show more

“…The healing state of both Csponge and Ssponge-2-treated livers was further evaluated by H&E and Masson staining (Figure 6d,e). [3] Csponge-treated livers exhibited a more extensive abnormal area when compared with the Ssponge-treated ones in the H&E micrographs (Figure 6d; and Figure S7, Supporting Information). Host cell infiltration is the primary step for endogenous tissue regeneration.…”

“…These hydrogel materials exhibit excellent properties, including sensitive responsiveness, desirable catalytic activity, antioxidative properties, and excellent photothermal performances, which provide emerging therapies for tissue repair. [205][206][207] Among them, photo-thermo coupled responsive hydrogels are very attractive by combining the advantages of thermo-responsiveness and the photothermal effect. First, thermo-responsive hydrogels with inherent injectable or sprayable characteristics are very promising due to the fact that they can completely fill irregular wounds, avoiding secondary injury during treatment.…”

“…Considering the unique molecular structural features of BIPY (i.e., aldehyde group for Schiff base reaction and bipyridine unit for N-metal ion coordination interaction, respectively), [35][36][37][38][39][40] it was anticipated that BIPY could act as a robust and bifunctional adaptor to assemble with different kinds of aminoglycosides and metal ions to fabricate all-small-molecule dynamic metallogels with multiple stimuli responsiveness. Besides, the resulting metallogels also demonstrated many other promising features, including conductivity, antibacterial properties, tunable mechanical properties and controlled drug release.…”
