-Aim:The aim of this research is to identify the mechanisms that lead soccer players to make quality tactical decisions, and how these mechanisms evolve over time. Methods: Ninety male youth players training in a professional club in Brazil were submitted to a soccer video test which consists in making tactical decisions when the image freezes. These participants were divided in five groups with 18 players in each of following age levels: Under-11, Under-13, Under-15, Under-17 and Under-20. The dominant statements of verbal reports were distributed in categories that reflect key mechanisms. The frequency of correct tactical answers was calculated for each statement types and Standard Residuals (e) were calculated to verify the influence of the mechanisms on the quality of tactical decision for each age level. Results: Results revealed that evaluation statement was related to accurate tactical decisions from Under-15 age level. Conclusion: In conclusion, evaluation of perceived information makes better decision makers.

A forma de ensinar esportes na educação física escolar tem se modificado ao longo das últimas décadas, mas no Brasil esta transformação pedagógica ainda é recente, com estudos de intervenção dessa natureza sendo publicados a partir de 1993, porém ainda utilizando métodos tradicionais. O estudo objetivou demonstrar que o badminton pode ser ensinado na prática via diferentes métodos de ensino e, além disso, apontar em que as atividades propostas distinguem-se quanto a frequência de ocorrência para cada método aplicado. A amostra foi composta por 48 escolares (15,1±0,64 anos) de ambos os sexos e três professores. Os escolares foram separados em três grupos de acordo com o método de ensino (Analítico, TGfU e Integrativo). Aplicou-se 17 sessões para prática do badminton em cada método supracitado. Os resultados de confiabilidade apontaram excelentes índices de concordância intra e inter-avaliadores, a análise descritiva da categorização das aulas e o teste qui-quadrado evidenciaram as peculiaridades de cada método. Conclui-se que a aplicação dos referidos métodos no contexto real de ensino-aprendizagem do badminton estimula e reforça a validade ecológica da pesquisa, uma vez que as práticas ocorreram durante as aulas de educação física.

Human performance requires choosing what to do and how to do it. The goal of this theoretical contribution is to advance understanding of how the motor and cognitive components of choices are intertwined. From a holistic perspective I extend simple heuristics that have been tested in cognitive tasks to motor tasks, coining the term motor heuristics. Similarly I extend the concept of embodied cognition, that has been tested in simple sensorimotor processes changing decisions, to complex sport behavior coining the term embodied choices. Thus both motor heuristics and embodied choices explain complex behavior such as studied in sport and exercise psychology.
