Smart efficient solar DC micro-grid

Abstract: A smart wireless DC micro-grid suitable for efficient utilization of energy available from Distributed Renewable Energy Generators (DREGs) is described. This concept is experimentally demonstrated using a 40 W solar photovoltaic (PV) array delivering power to fluorescent lighting; other DC loads such as Light-Emitting Diodes (LEDs) and DC ceiling fans can be easily integrated into the proposed hybrid micro-grid. First-order calculations are presented to show significant energy savings. The proposed architectur… Show more

“…All this demand growing is also increasing the interest of how the meteorological condition plays significant role in the performance of renewable energy systems, whereas these systems produce optimum output under certain desired weather conditions which are essentially location [3]. Thus we need apply an intelligence network that allows the integration of large amounts of green energy, improving reliability, quality of supply and ensuring safety, due to the great advantages and developments on renewable energy, it is necessary to analyze how energy should be used in a micro-grid [4].…”

“…Presently, the dc power generated by the renewable sources has to be converted to ac before it can be transmitted to the loads through a transmission system designed to work on ac. At the load side, the power which is received has to be converted to dc inorder to be used by these devices and these conversions involve power losses [6]. There are millions of such conversions taking place in the entire world each second and thus, a huge amount of power is being wasted.…”
