Smart Cities

Abstract: Key concepts, definitions, examples, and historical contexts for understanding smart cities, along with discussions of both drawbacks and benefits of this approach to urban problems. Over the past ten years, urban planners, technology companies, and governments have promoted smart cities with a somewhat utopian vision of urban life made knowable and manageable through data collection and analysis. Emerging smart cities have become both crucibles and showrooms for the practical application of the… Show more

“…By collecting information on the features, quality level of activities, and how they are perceived in terms of safety in smart cities [69], we analyzed the rich literature on this subject. By analyzing this article, as well as other works [6,13,70,71], it was possible to distinguish a group of factors that have the greatest impact on the satisfaction of residents [8], which includes intelligent solutions, their applications, operation and content, relations with residents, reliability and the possibility of using codes and coupons [72].…”

“…Reacting to, adjusting to, and predicting citizens' needs and behaviors, smart cities are sensitized spots where digital media are purposively assimilated as infrastructure and software to gather, inspect, and share huge amounts of data in real-time to handle and inform decisions as regards urban settings and undertakings. Acquiring more algorithmically assessed data concerning public service delivery and deployment will result in optimized city services (Halegoua, 2020). (Tables 1-10) Sources: ESI ThoughtLab; our survey among 4,600 individuals conducted March 2020.…”

“…Using digital media infrastructures, smart city administration patterns depend on the assessment and conceptualization of urban undertakings as advanced data streams. The assimilation of digital infrastructure, integrated technologies, and predictive analytics used to drive urban administration is associated with high-speed networks and ubiquitous connectivity (Halegoua, 2020).…”
