Smart Campus: Trends in cybersecurity and future development

Abstract: Smart Campus is an entity of any kind that uses technology and infrastructure to support and improve its processes, so people can use them better. This paper reviews the literature to contextualize the Internet of Things and its vital importance for the Smart Campus, as well as its relationship with the concepts of cybersecurity and wireless sensor network. We describe the various interrelationships, tendencies, and future development of a Smart Campus, as well as the differences and similarities with the emer… Show more

“…For example, intruders may get access to the campus data and perform attacks because the cyber system of a campus is usually open. A solution for mitigating the attack issues could be increasing the data redundancy and protection against denial‐of‐service attacks [36]. The data system in a smart campus needs to meet the requirements of confidentiality, authenticity, integrity, and availability.…”

“…For example, the communication networks of smart campus are easy to be unsafe because the cyber system of the campus is usually open, so it is easy for intruders to get access to the campus data and perform attacks. A solution approach for the attack issues could be increasing the data redundancy and protection against denial‐of‐service attacks [60]. Moreover, since a large number of sensory devices and wireless communication technologies are widely deployed over the campus cyber system, there will be an increasing chance of sensitive data being leaked or destroyed during transmission.…”
