Collective memory is a specific carrier for interpreting historical space and local emotions. With the help of collective memory theory, this paper constructs the industrial heritage system of an old industrial zone. Taking the old industrial area in Jianxi District of Luoyang as an example, this paper uses two types of memory representations, the material memory field and spiritual memory field, as the carriers of collective memory. It is divided into 11 types of spatial fields, such as production space, living space, landscape space and spiritual culture, and 76 memory connotations to construct a collective memory classification model of industrial culture. Through the investigation and analysis of the memory of the collective memory subject, it was found that: ① the collective production space is the most impressive. ② The living space is distributed in patches due to celebrity effects; and ③ People are more prominent in the symbolization of collective memory. On the foundations of memory analysis, Take the luoyang bearing factory for example, to research the sustainable development of intelligent and energy-efficient buildings.

Digital Twin for Xiegong’s Architectural Archaeological Research: A Case Study of Xuanluo Hall, Sichuan, China

Xiegong is a unique element of Chinese historic buildings that could date the heritage dynasty. It is more complicated than the Dougong and represents a high level of artistic and structural achievement. Archaeological research on Xiegong is urgent due to the fast rate of erosion rate and the official record of only Dougong without Xiegong. With 3D survey technology, researchers can use 3D digital replicas to record and survey heritage buildings. However, the methodology of applying digital reproductions to facilitate archaeological research is unclear. A comprehensive approach to merging the digital twin into the chronology of forms was proposed based on a literature review of archaeological theory. This multi-methodological approach, including laser scanning, oblique photogrammetry, and BIM, was adopted to develop Xiegong’s architectural archaeology dating research. Using Xuanluo Hall, Sichuan, China, as an example, the site study verified the approach to ensure consistency between 2D and 3D expressions with geometry and semantics. The results indicate that, on the one hand, the digital twin process can help archaeologists recognize historical information. On the other hand, the results of their discrimination can be effectively recorded and easily queried, avoiding the shortcomings of traditional methods of information loss and dispersion.

Introduction: Heritage conservation attracts wide attention worldwide. Jordan has many heritage buildings that were preserved, rehabilitated, and adapted to new functions. However, these conservation efforts could not solve the energy consumption problem or maintain the economic and financial balance, thus reducing building efficiency, slowing down the conservation activity, and forcing us to consider new solutions, especially since Jordan has limited energy sources. Integrating smart technologies in historical buildings is widely effective in achieving the sustainability of their historical, symbolic architectural values. Purpose of the study: We aimed to explore the potential integration of smart technologies in cultural and heritage buildings. Methods: We suggested an alternative solution -adopting the smart building concept in the Abu Jaber Museum in Al-Salt (which recently got on the UNESCO World Heritage List since it has more than 1000 heritage buildings), using an automated lighting control system. Approach: We deployed the qualitative method and case study approach to investigate the potential of adopting the smart building concept in the historical building in Al-Salt, Jordan. The study sheds light on the possibilities of utilizing smart technologies in historical buildings in Al-Salt.The findings indicate that smart technologies can offer great opportunity in preserving the architectural heritage and raising the efficiency of heritage buildings. Novelty: The study provides a framework based mainly on automated lighting systems in historical buildings. For the first time, the focus was on historical buildings in Jordan and their performance.
