Small ubiquitin‐like modifier/sentrin‐specific peptidase 1 associates with chemotherapy and is a risk factor for poor prognosis of non‐small cell lung cancer

Abstract: When compared with adjacent non-tumor tissues, the overexpression of SENP1 mRNA and protein in NSCLC tumor tissues was determined using qRT-PCR and immunochemistry. Based on the chemoradiotherapy response rate, we found that NSCLC patients with higher SENP1 expression showed lower rates of complete response and higher partial and non-response rate to chemoradiotherapy. In the overall survival analysis, we found patients with high SENP1 expression showed significant shorter survival time compared with those wit… Show more

“…Dong et al revealed that SENP1 promotes the proliferation of renal clear cell carcinoma by activating glycolysis ( 32 ). Liu et al demonstrated that the high expression of SENP1 protein in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) tissues, and SENP1 protein is a risk factor for poor prognosis of NSCLC ( 33 ). Cai et al showed that the variation of SENP1 in the Chinese population is not related to the risk of breast cancer, but has a specific impact on the clinicopathological characteristics of breast cancer.…”

“…The overexpression of SENP1 contributed to chemoradiotherapy resistance in non-small cell lung cancer. 30 In addition, SENP1 could also promote renal cell carcinoma tumorigenesis. 31 In this study, we revealed that SENP1 was overexpressed in CRC tissues and upregulated by MCM3AP-AS1.…”

“…SENP1 is a deSUMOylation enzyme that plays a critical role in DNA replication, cell cycle, and hypoxic response. The overexpression of SENP1 contributed to chemoradiotherapy resistance in non‐small cell lung cancer 30 . In addition, SENP1 could also promote renal cell carcinoma tumorigenesis 31 .…”

“…HNK was found to inhibit the proliferation of HCC cells via G0/G1 cell cycle arrest with p21/p53 up-regulation [ 55 ]. SENP1 is now considered as a valid anticancer target, overexpressed in certain cancer (like non-small cell lung [ 127 ] and pancreatic [ 128 ] cancers) and a promotor of HCC [ 129 ]. Small molecules targeting SENP1 are actively searched [ 130 132 ].…”
