Small-Angle X-Ray Scattering Study on PVA/Fe3O4 Magnetic Hydrogels

Abstract: A synchrotron small-angle X-ray scattering (SAXS) study on PVA/Fe3O4 magnetic hydrogels has been performed to investigate the effect of clustering on their magnetic properties. The hydrogels were prepared through freezing–thawing (F–T) processes. The structure, morphology and magnetic properties of magnetite (Fe3O4) nanoparticles (NPs) were investigated using X-ray diffractometry (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and a superconducting quantum interference device (SQUID) magnetometer, respectively. … Show more

“…As a result of previous research, there has been a fast growth in the production of ceramic‐based polymer matrix composites. Examples of such composites are SiO 2 ‐poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG)‐3‐isocyanate‐propyltrietoxysilane, silica–polymer system, poly(vinyl alcohol)–Fe 3 O 4, and Al 2 O 3 –polymer matrix . However, the above applications imperatively require a thorough knowledge of how external forces and temperature affect the behavior of the composites.…”

“…The purified Fe 3 O 4 powders as a main precursor was selected from natural iron sand following our previous works [13][14][15][16][17]. However, in this work, the synthesis method was developed by combining the coprecipitation as reported in our previous works with the sonochemical route using ultrasonic bath at a frequency of 40 KHz at room temperature for 1 hour.…”

“…The detail of synthesis method for the preparation of Fe 3 O 4 nanoparticles was described in our previous works [53][54][55][56][57]. The iron sand was extracted by a magnetic separator to obtain dominantly Fe 3 O 4 powders.…”
