Slurry Titrations of Unstabilized Cellulose Nitrate

Abstract: Slurry titrations were performed on unstabilized cotton and wood cellulose nitrates. The results for total sulphate were compared with those from gravimetric, 24-hour, and zero hydrolysis methods. The agreement was best in the case of wood cellulose nitrates. The ester sulphate contents obtained were also compared with those from 24-hour and zero hydrolysis. The agreement was again best in the case of wood cellulose nitrates.
