Slope Modification during the Late Pleistocene in the Natori River Drainage Basin

Abstract: This study tephrochronologically eludidates that front and back slopes of the terrace III (before. ca. 30,000 yr B.P.) had been modified into gentle ones in a slope declining process under the Late Pleistocene cold climatic condition even in the lowland of the mid-temperate or southern cool temperate zone, Japan and that in the active modification of slopes there existed a hiatus of 40,000 yr B.P. to 30,000 yr B.P., when a weathered horizon and gully erosion occurred.
