Sliding Wear Behaviour and Corosion Resistance to Ringer’s Solution of Uncoated and DLC Coated X46Cr13 Steel

Abstract: Sliding wear properties and corrosion resistance in Ringer’s solution of uncoated and diamond-like carbon (DLC) coated X46Cr13 steel was tested. The Raman spectra showed that the DLC film was successfully coated by plasma assisted CVD method onto the steel surface. The wear test, carried out using a ball-on disk tribometer, revealed that the DLC coating show better resistance to sliding wear and lower friction coefficient against a 100Cr6 steel ball than five times softer X46Cr13 steel. The oxidation kinetic p… Show more

“…But, this metal has a limited corrosion resistance and therefore the corrosion of carbon steels is a problem for most industries [1,2]. Therefore, many efforts have been done to increase corrosion resistance and stability of steel materials [3,4]. There are different corrosion protection methods including cathodic/anodic protection, coatings, inhibitors and proper design [5][6][7][8].…”

“…A brief research work of the influence of process parameters on the quality of thermally sprayed material coating is given in [ 10 ] since the final coating quality is strongly related to the spray parameters’ definition, such as oxygen pressure, fuel gas type, etc. Sliding wear properties and corrosion resistance related to X46Cr13 steel were tested, and this problem is treated in [ 11 ]. Mechanical data on this steel are very scarce in the literature.…”
