Sliding Mode Self-Sensing Control of Synchronous Machine Using Super Twisting Interconnected Observers

Abstract: The aim of this study is to propose a self-sensing control of internal permanent-magnet synchronous machines (IPMSMs) based on new high order sliding mode approaches. The high order sliding mode control will be combined with the backstepping strategy to achieve global or semi global attraction and ensure finite time convergence. The proposed control strategy should be able to reject the unmatched perturbations and reject the external perturbation. On the other hand, the super-twisting algorithm will be combine… Show more

“…Also, hybrid-type controllers can be obtained with the combination of different approaches. For example, sliding mode control is coupled with backstepping control to control the speed and the current of the machine, as presented in [60]. Recently, increasing attention has been paid to dual-stage control strategies, which combine the advantages of different control approaches by commutating between them.…”

“…Typically, SMC provides the reference signals for the inner current loops, which use conventional linear PI controllers. There are also papers where not only the speed but also the d and q axis currents are controlled by SMC, like [60,100,101,114,115]. Paper [114] uses separate SMC for the speed, torque and flux controller for a surface-mounted PMSM.…”

“…The STA technique has a very high efficacy compared to that of the classical method, as seen in the results of [58]. Synchronous motors (SMs) were controlled by the STA method [59]. STA observer with adaptive parameters estimation was proposed to command the IPMSMs [60].…”

“…Therefore, power converters with a multilevel topology are used in solar photovoltaic systems to improve their efficiency, as mentioned in [14][15][16]. Among the multilevel topologies, the multicellular power converter has gained interest in recent years due to several advantages, such as increasing the speed by increasing the voltage by controlling the constant voltage/frequency ratio that is used in the control of the synchronous machines with permanent magnets [17]. In addition, due to the low dv/dt stress and low rating of the power-switching devices, multicellular converters can be used in applications with high DC voltage [18] because of the voltage on the DC side being naturally divided in flying capacitors [12,13,[19][20][21][22].…”
