Sliding Mode-Based Robustification of Consensus and Distributed Optimization Control Protocols

Abstract: This paper proposes a design approach, based on the integral sliding mode control paradigm, devoted to give robustness to multi-agent systems executing arbitrary distributed optimization and consensus protocols which do not take this feature into account. Robustness is understood as the capability of rejecting the effect of exogenous disturbances, parameter uncertainties, and uncertain couplings between the agents dynamics, by achieving the same emerging behaviour as that corresponding to a reference MAS desig… Show more

“…Since the system in (5) contains the equivalent disturbance component H$$ H $$, it is necessary to attenuate it by a reasonable way. As a powerful disturbance attenuation tool with the advantage of simplicity and speed over techniques such as model adaptive control technology, 31 the SMC technique has yielded a number of interesting results in recent years (see the literature 32–35 for details). Therefore, we utilize the SMC technique to compensate the equivalent external perturbation contains in (5).…”

“…As with traditional SMC, this acceptable value can keep the system stable and resilient. The goal is to adaptively tune the controller gain without knowing the system's maximum uncertainty bound [18], [20], [21]. The ASMC is organized as:…”

“…Therefore, the research on the synchronization of MNNs is similar to the research on the consensus of multi-agents. Recently, a variety of control strategies have emerged for the consensus of multi-agents, such as impulse control, 8 optimal control, 9 sliding mode control (SMC), 10,11 event-triggered control, 12,13 and pinning control. 14 In recent years, wireless communication network develops rapidly, but it is vulnerable to attackers because of its unstable transmission channel.…”
