Skin Hypersensitivity to Equid Herpesvirus Type 1 in Horses

Abstract: Summary Ten mares naturally infected with equid herpesvirus 1 (EHV‐1) were intradermally injected with an antigen prepared from livers of EHV‐1 infected hamsters. All mares showed strong cutaneous reactions. The reactions at the site of injection of the control antigen were very small. In non‐infected mares the reactions to both the EHV‐1 antigen and the control antigen were very slight.
