Skema Religius Sebagai Prediktor Terhadap Perilaku Toleransi Orang Ambon

Abstract

Tolerance is an issue that will continue to be discussed by experts. Recent studies show that religious schemas strongly influence individual tolerance behavior which positively impacts harmonious situations amidst diversity. However, so far this study has been minimally replicated in Ambonese, Maluku. Therefore, this quantitative research seeks to prove and explain religious schema as a predictor of the tolerant behavior of the Ambonese. The sample in this study was 66 people, the average age was (29 years) and (Christian = 25.8%; Muslim = 74.2%). Based on the results of simple linear regression analysis, it shows that religious schemas strongly predict the tolerant behavior of Ambonese people, namely p = 0.000 (p <0.05). In addition, the contribution of religious schemas to tolerant behavior is 21.4%. That is, there is another 78.6% that tolerance behavior is influenced by other psychological variables such as empathy, intellectual humility, and support for granting rights to others. Religious schemes can affect tolerant behavior in Ambonese respondents because they are stimulated by local cultural influences such as pela and masohi. This study is expected to become a recommendation for policymakers to pay more attention to the urgency of forming a religious scheme through efforts to preserve local culture so that it has an impact on people's tolerant behavior. This study still has limitations, namely involving a limited number of samples so future studies need to consider using a larger number of samples so that predictions of religious schemes for tolerance behavior can be generalized to many populations. Therefore, this limitation can be a recommendation for further researchers.
