“…The ratio between mean end plate diameter and mean muscle fiber diameter was 1 : 1.6 and 1 : 1.7 in the red and white part of the peronaeus muscle of Poland-China pigs, respectively. In the gastrocnemius muscles of the young pigs studied here, MEP sizes were smaller when related to muscle fiber diameter, measuring in length only 50-70% of the muscle fiber diameter (Table3), which is within the same range BEERMANN et al (1977) have found in the pig semitendinosus muscle. Grouping of porcine MEP's into three classes was simple when based on structural characteristics described on different fiber types in rat muscle.…”
