Size Dependence of the Third-Order Optical Nonlinear Susceptibility of PbS Nanocrystals in PVA

Abstract: We have synthesized a composite material containing semiconductor nanocrystals with a high third-order optical nonlinear susceptibility v (3) (x) ¼ (6.5 AE 2.3)Á 10 À16 m 2 =V 2 (PbS-18 nm) at k ¼ 1.064 nm in the case where the nanocrystal size approaches the Bohr radius of an exciton in the material.
