Size Control of Gold Nanoparticles Synthesized by Laser Ablation in Liquid Media

Abstract: We investigate the influence of salt, acidic, and basic solutions (citrate, NaOH, and HCl) on the size of gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) synthesized by laser ablation in aqueous media. We found that NP size increases from 3 nm to 13 nm when Zeta potential varies from −100 mV to −10 mV whatever the concentration and the nature of chemical solution are namely, citrate, NaOH, and HCl. These results demonstrated that the final size of gold NPs produced by laser ablation in liquid media is mainly governed by the charge… Show more

“…The pH plays a very important role in the properties of the NPs [ 42 ] prepared, including their SERS activity [ 43 ]. A change in the ionic strength in the medium leads to the formation of clusters of particles or even a monolayer of particles on a surface.…”

“…PLA in a liquid medium also provides the ability to easily control the size and shape of the produced nanoparticles [28][29][30][31]. PLA of a tin target in an ethanol solution of thioacetamide was reported to produce hollow tin monosulfide nanoparticles after acid etching was employed [32].…”
