The processes used to develop software need to comply with normative requirements (e.g., standards and regulations) to align with the market and the law. Manual compliance checking is challenging because there are numerous requirements with changing nature and different purposes. Despite the importance of automated techniques, there is not any systematic study in this field. This lack may hinder organizations from moving toward automated compliance checking practices. In this paper, we characterize the methods for automatic compliance checking of software processes, including used techniques, potential impacts, and challenges. For this, we undertake a systematic literature review (SLR) of studies reporting methods in this field. As a result, we identify solutions that use different techniques (e.g., anthologies and metamodels) to represent processes and their artifacts (e.g., tasks and roles). Various languages, which have diverse capabilities for managing competing and changing norms, and agile strategies, are also used to represent normative requirements. Most solutions require tool‐support concretization and enhanced capabilities to handle processes and normative diversity. Our findings outline compelling areas for future research. In particular, there is a need to select suitable languages for consolidating a generic and normative‐agnostic solution, increase automation levels, tool support, and boost the application in practice by improving usability aspects.

Requirement Elicitation is one of the challenging phases in the entire software development life cycle. It is the process of extracting and analyzing the requirements from customers to understand thoroughly of what system needs to be built. Despite all the advances in methodologies and practice approaches, extracting and establishing the right requirements are still part of the research debate. The objective of this paper is to compare the characteristics of two hybrid development approaches; Lean Six Sigma vs. Lean Agile. Most of the comparative studies done by most of the research compared within its relative knowledge such as; Lean vs. Six Sigma, Define-Measure-Analyze-Improve-Control vs. Design-For-Six-Sigma or Lean vs. Six Sigma vs Lean Six Sigma. Whereas in software industries, the comparative studies were focused on Lean vs. Agile, Agile vs. Waterfall, Lean vs. Kanban vs.Agile, which compared the project size, process cycle time, sequential or iterative process. The following parts of the study is to explore the differences and similarities in principles and practices. The study contributes significantly to the business analysts to systematically address the solutions and actions to ensure continuous improvement in producing quality software requirement.

The International Software Benchmarking Standards Group (ISBSG) provides to researchers and practitioners a repository of software projects' data that has been used to date mostly for benchmarking and project estimation purposes, but rarely for software defects analysis. Sigma, in statistics, measures how far a process deviates from its goal. Six Sigma focuses on reducing variations within processes, because such variations may lead to an inconsistency in achieving projects' specifications which represent "defects", which mean not meeting customers' satisfaction. Six Sigma provides two methodologies to solve organizations' problems: "Define-Measure-Analyze-Improve-Control" process cycle (DMAIC) and Design of Six Sigma (DFSS). The DMAIC focuses on improving the existed processes, while the DFSS focuses on redesigning the existing processes and developing new processes. This paper presents an approach to provide an analysis of ISBSG repository based on Six Sigma measurements. It investigates the use of the ISBSG data repository with some of the related Six Sigma measurement aspects, including Sigma defect measurement and software defect estimation. This study presents the dataset preparation consisting of two levels of data preparations, and then analyzed the quality-related data fields in the ISBSG MS-Excel data extract (Release 12 -2013). It also presents an analysis of the extracted dataset of software projects. This study has found that the ISBSG MS-Excel data extract has a high ratio of missing data within the data fields of "Total Number of Defects" variable, which represents a serious challenge when the ISBSG dataset is being used for software defect estimation.
