Situation épidémiologique de la fièvre jaune au Burkina Faso de 2003 à 2008

Abstract: Despite the existence of antiamaril vaccine in the routine Expanded Program of Immunization (EPI) in Burkina Faso, yellow fever cases still occur in the country. “…Such interventions require knowledge of existing vectors, particularly in terms of abundance. However, apart from a rapid entomological investigation in 2004 following a yellow fever outbreak in Bobo-Dioulasso [15], there have been no entomological studies conducted in Ouagadougou [16,17].…”

“…Around doubtful cases of Bobo-Dioulasso, revival for a second Blood sampling from patients obviously missed coordination and means to lead a true multi-disciplinary investigation on epidemiologic, virological and entomological plan. Confirmed cases of 2010 come mainly from Western area of Burkina recognized as an area of strong yellow fever endemicity of where cases are regularly described [5,22]. This area is frontier with Ivory Cost in its Northern part where cases of yellow fever are often described [23,24]; and also with the West of Mali (Sikasso) where one has relatively little information.…”

“…Our study shows that 356 six-month- to six-year-old children were vaccinated (21.3%) among the 1673 children with a health record, indicating a limited coverage. Indeed, between 2000 and 2008, yellow fever cases have been identified in the southeast of Burkina Faso, but not in or around Ouagadougou [13]. Dengue fever cases have been reported in Ouagadougou since 2008 [8,45].…”

“…In 2013, dengue was reported in healthcare centers of Ouagadougou [9]. For yellow fever, the survey carried out by Yaro et al [13] in the Southwestern part of Burkina Faso showed an increase of confirmed cases between 2003 and 2005, possibly associated with the intensification of migration between Burkina Faso and Côte d’Ivoire.…”
