Objective: to understand the feelings of families before drug dependence. Method: exploratory, analytical and qualitative study carried out with families of drug users, which are followed up by the Centro de Atenção Psicossocial Álcool e Drogas (Psychosocial Care Center for Alcohol and DARUGS). The collection of data took place by in-depth interview, with the support of field diary. Three visits were done, on average, for each family. The software IRAMUTEQ was adopted for textual corpus organization and was discussed in the light of Michel Maffesoli. Results: nine families participated in the research; from the analysis, four classes arose: “My life has changed a lot because of drugs”; “I fear leaving him alone”; “I trust and have faith in God”, and “I am always worried in my own house”. Final considerations: the families revealed how much drug dependence did not only affect the user, but also the whole family, provoking in the family complex feelings and emotions.

RESUMO -Este estudo objetivou avaliar o nível de sobrecarga do cuidador em uma amostra composta por 115 mulheres, familiares de dependentes químicos que estavam realizando tratamento. Buscou-se verificar diferenças quanto à sobrecarga e o tipo de droga, local de tratamento e variáveis sociodemográficas. Utilizou-se questionário sociodemográfico e Inventário de Sobrecarga do Cuidador de Zarit, analisados com auxílio do SPSS 21. O nível de sobrecarga foi moderado a severo, não diferindo significativamente quanto ao tipo de droga (álcool ou crack), mas sim quanto ao local de tratamento dos usuários (maior para ambulatório) e ao parentesco (mães com maior sobrecarga). Espera-se que os dados encontrados possam auxiliar na assistência aos familiares que assumem o cuidado no tratamento da dependência química. PALAVRAS-CHAVE: dependência química, família, sobrecargaABSTRACT -This study aimed to assess the level of burden placed on family caregivers of drug addicts in a sample of 115 female family members whose relatives were under a drug addiction treatment program in João Pessoa-PB. The study also examined the existence of differences in burden level and type of drug, place of treatment and sociodemographic variables. A sociodemographic questionnaire and a Caregiver Burden Inventory (Zarit Burden Interview) were administered. The results of both instruments were analyzed with SPSS 21. The level of burden was moderate to severe. Significant differences were found in relation to place of treatment and kinship, but not in relation to the type of drug (alcohol or crack). We hope that this study may assist the persons who take care in the treatment of a drug addiction.

A correlação existente entre a finitude da vida por vias naturais e a decorrente dos maus hábitos dos indivíduos nos propõe uma reflexão acerca da situação em que se encontram os usuários de droga. Acredita-se que dentre as principais dificuldades diante do tema morte esteja a aceitação do paciente e de seus familiares das condições impostas pela doença, o que se torna um gerador de conflito e adoecimento no núcleo familiar. O objetivo deste trabalho é promover uma reflexão entre a eutanásia, o abuso das drogas e o impacto familiar. O estudo será do tipo qualitativo, de base bibliográfica, a fim de promover uma discussão integrativa envolvendo a temática relacional das drogas e da família. Foram selecionados 23 artigos no período compreendido entre os anos 2000 e 2015. Conclui-se que os problemas decorrentes do uso das drogas e a morte constituem uma questão geradora de angústia e sofrimento para a família e o sujeito envolvido no problema, pois se busca a recuperação do ser amado e frustra-se diante das incertezas e da sensação de impotência ao deparar-se com uma condição irreversível de uma doença ou deterioração física. ABSTRACTThe correlation between the finitude of life by natural means and the finitude deriving from the bad habits of individuals propose a reflection on the situation the drug users are in. It is believed that the main difficulties in the face of the subject of death are the acceptance of patients and their families of the conditions imposed by the disease, which becomes a conflict and illness generator in the family nucleus. The aim of this study is to promote a reflection among euthanasia, drug abuse and the impact in the family. The study is of qualitative type of a bibliographic database in order to promote an integrative discussion on the subject of drugs and family. 23 articles were selected in the period of 2000 to 2015. The study concludes that the problems derived from the use of drugs and death constitute a generating matter of anguish and suffering of the family and the subject involved in the problem, as the family seeks the recovery of the beloved and is frustrated before the uncertainty and the feeling of helplessness when faced with an irreversible condition of a disease or physical deterioration.
