Show more

“…Carvone with "its molecular ion is 150 amu and the molecular formula C 10 H 14 O, is a monoterpene-ketone" 22 . Carvone (p-menta-6,8-dien-2-one) is a flavoring substance widely used in pharmaceutical products 23 with an "antibacterial and / or antimicrobial effect and as an insecticide" 24 , antifungal activity against A. fumigatus and C. Krusei 25 , antiherpetic activity that is used in industries of flavors and products for oral hygiene 26 and sweet mint smell, such as mint leaves. Carvone and limonene can exhibit prophylactic and curative properties against skin, liver, lung, pancreas and breast cancer 25 .…”

“…A reduction of the verbenone content due to mineral fertilization was observed in corn plants by Gouinguené and Turlings (2002), who claim that the complete fertilization rate causes changes in the proportions of volatile compounds with a structure consisting of a double cycle (10 carbons), as in the case of verbenone. Furthermore, it has been documented that fertilization affects the reaction of two myrcene molecules by forming α-pinene terpene, an intermediary in the biosynthesis of this compound (Barrera et al, 2008).…”
