Sintering behavior and dielectric properties of SrB2Si2O8 ceramics

Abstract: In this paper, the sintering behavior of the SrB 2 Si 2 O 8 ceramics based on the SrO-B 2 O 3 -SiO 2 composition has been investigated. The influence of the BaO addition to the SrO-B 2 O 3 -SiO 2 ceramics on the sintering behavior has been also examined. It shows that, due to the low-meting characteristics of the SrO-B 2 O 3 binary composition, the SrB 2 Si 2 O 8 ceramics with peculiar dielectric properties can easily prepared by the introduction of SiO 2 to the SrO-B 2 O 3 binary compositions at a sintering t… Show more

“…Hydrated borate compounds with low-melting characteristics can be easily prepared by the chemical combination of H 3 BO 3 and Ca(OH) 2 , SrCO 3 , or Ba(OH) 2 ·8H 2 O via an aqueous suspension milling route [16][17]. Consequently, the low-temperature densification of high-melting-point ceramics can be achieved by combining pre-sintered ceramics powders and hydrated borates because the hydrated borates provide sufficient amounts of liquid phases during sintering.…”

“…For example, Mergen et al [14] Most borates exhibit low-melting-temperature characteristics, and their preparation is also relatively straightforward [1,[15][16][17][18]. Thus, the incorporation of CaAl 2 Si 2 O 8 ceramics and borates is an approach worth consideration.…”

“…Carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) is a representative derivative of cellulose with excellent water solubility, biocompatibility, and nontoxicity . The advantageous properties of CMC allow it to be used in both the biotechnological and the industrial fields due to abundant reactive carboxylic and hydroxyl groups existing on the chains of CMC . The use of cellulose derivatives for the hydrogels' preparation has been preferred due to the facile crosslinking step through physical and chemical processes.…”

“…Moreover, further investigation into alkaline earth borosilicate system had been a field of interest for its potential in application such as low cost optical connectors, optical amplifiers and phosphor materials (Jean & Chang 1999;Rao et al 2014). Also, the applications of low-temperature cofired ceramics (LTCC) of alkaline earth borosilicate in wireless communication and microwave products has recently immerged (Chen et al 2013;Krzhizhanovskaya et al 2010 , respectively. Syntheses of pekovite were firstly performed by Verstegen et al (1972 (Sabikoglu 2013;Saradhi et al 2010;Wang & Wang 2011;Wang et al 2009 polycrystalline samples were synthesized under oxidizing atmosphere of air and reducing atmosphere of carbon monoxide (CO).…”
