Singlet Oxygen‐Generating Biomaterials

Abstract: Photodynamic therapy (PDT) is one of noninvasive therapeutic methods that can effectively cure tumors and invading bacteria. The phototoxicity involved in PDT is attributed to singlet oxygen produced by the photosensitizer. Generally, absorption of light and intersystem crossing with oxygen can promote photosensitizer to excited state and generate radicals and reactive oxygen species (ROS), in which singlet oxygen is included.
