Single‐Walled Carbon Nanotube/Phase Change Material Composites: Sunlight‐Driven, Reversible, Form‐Stable Phase Transitions for Solar Thermal Energy Storage

Abstract: The development of solar energy conversion materials is critical to the growth of a sustainable energy infrastructure in the coming years. A novel hybrid material based on single‐walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) and form‐stable polymer phase change materials (PCMs) is reported. The obtained materials have UV‐vis sunlight harvesting, light‐thermal conversion, thermal energy storage, and form‐stable effects. Judicious application of this efficient photothermal conversion to SWNTs has opened up a rich field of ene… Show more

“…When the temperature increases to above the melting temperature of 27 o C, most of thermal energy converted from solar irradiation is absorbed into paraffin RT27 which undergoes the phase change. 375 Therefore, the increase in internal temperature of model hat with PVB/24P microfibers is mild at around 27 o C [32]. The maximal difference between the internal temperatures of two hats occurs during the melting process of paraffin RT27, and is 3.6, 3.4 and 3.4 o C for each run, respectively (Fig.…”

“…Nevertheless, these organic PCM still have some disadvantages, including leakage in the molten state and lower thermal conductivity (λ, around 0.2 W·m − 1 ·K −1 ), which restricts their wide application (Arteconi et al, 2012;Li et al, 2013a). Consequently, the incorporation of organic PCM into form-stable composite PCM is the most promising practical method to overcome these problems (Kenisarin and Kenisarina, 2012;Wang et al, 2013;Zhou et al, 2013;Zhang et al, 2014).…”
