Single stage and double absorption heat transformers in an industrial application

Abstract: SUMMARYAn industrial application of the single stage and double absorption heat transformer (AHT) systems using water-lithium bromide solutions with water as the refrigerant was analyzed. First, a basic single stage AHT system was described, the operating sequence was explained and thermodynamic system analysis was presented. Next, an application of the single stage AHT system to an industrial company was analyzed. A computer code was prepared to determine the effect of different parameters on the AHT system p… Show more

“…The developed thermodynamic model for SAHT utilizing LiBr + H 2 O has been compared with the reported results of Chen and Liang [61], Ayouet al [62] and Horuz et al [12] and presented in Table. 3. The maximum deviation percentage belongs to Q HEX which is 2.69% which is completely negligible.…”

“…A number of studies have demonstrated that the COP of a SSHT increases with an increase in both the generator and evaporator temperatures [12], while decreasing with an increase in the condenser temperature [13,14]. It may also be increased by increasing the solution heat exchanger efficiency [15].…”

“…The result revealed that the maximum exergy destruction happened in the generator, account for about 40% of the total destruction. Horuz and Kurt [20] analyzed single-stage AHT and DAHTs in an industrial application. This application was used to produce hot water and vapor using waste heat sources at about 90°C.…”
