Conventional matrix converters (MCs) have limited voltage gain that is less than 0.866, whether for direct MC (DMC) or indirect MC (IMC). The Z-source matrix converters (ZSMC) overcome the voltage gain limitation of the traditional MC and achieve buck andboost operation with reduced switches count, therefore achieving low cost, high efficiency, and reliability, compared to the back-to-back converter. Furthermore, it will leads to more MC industrial applications. This paper presents an up to date comprehensive overview of the different Z-source matrix converter topologies and their configurations, circuit analysis, modulation schemes, and applications. This study offers a comprehensive and systematic reference for the future development of the Z-source matrix converters.Keywords: Z-source converter, Quasi-Z-source converter, Z-source indirect matrix converter, Z-source direct matrix converter.I. 0885-8993 (c) topology of the MC, they are called Z-Source Indirect Matrix Converter (ZSIMC) and Z-Source Direct Matrix Converter (ZSDMC). Therefore, it is possible to overcome the low voltage gain challenge of the traditional MC; in addition, the ZS/QZS network allows the short circuit, which makes the ZSMC commutation easier. As a result, the ZSMC provides a low-cost, reliable, and highly efficient structure for buck and boost ac/ac conversion. Moreover, there are two different configurations of the ZSIMC topology depending on the location of the ZS/QZS network. The ZS/QZS network can be located between the rectifier and inverter of indirect matrix converter at the intermediate dclink, the voltage gain is extended, but it is not all-silicon-solution and will cause larger size and heavier weight (it requires large inductors and capacitors in the dc-link) than the conventional IMC. The other option, where the ZS/QZS network is inserted between the input ac source and rectifier of the indirect matrix converter to achieve all-silicon solution. This configuration can achieve high voltage gain with a small ZS/QZS network, but it requires a large number of switches, so it is at the result of higher cost. This paper will present an updated overview of the different Zsource matrix converter topologies including the ZSIMC with its all-silicon and not all-silicon configurations and also the ZSDMC.

Bu çalışmada, kademeli olarak değişen bir çıkış frekansı yanında değişken bir çıkış gerilimi elde etmek için z-kaynak empedans ağı kullanan bir fazlı bir matris çevirici yapısı modellenip benzetimi yapılmıştır. Bu topoloji ile geleneksel matris çeviricilerin gerilim kazancı sınırlaması ortadan kaldırılarak, çıkış gerilimi ve frekansı yükseltilebilmekte veya düşürülebilmektedir. Matris çevirici, doğrudan AA-AA dönüşüm yaparken anahtarlama stratejisi ile çıkış frekansını kademeli olarak değiştirme imkânı da sağlar. Doğrudan çevirme özelliği sayesinde, geleneksel çeviricilerde kullanılan büyük bir DA bağlantı elemanına olan ihtiyaç ortadan kaldırılmış olup, çift yönlü anahtarlar aracılığı ile giriş doğrudan çıkış fazlarına bağlanarak enerji dönüşümü gerçekleştirilmektedir. DA bağlantı elemanı kullanılmadığından hem maliyet hem de boyut düşürülmüş olur. Ayrıca çevirme işlemi yaparken anahtarlara ölü zaman ekleyerek güvenli komütasyon stratejisi gerçekleştirilmektedir. Endüstrideki kademeli frekans ve gerilime ihtiyaç duyulan uygulamalarda, örneğin bir fazlı asenkron motorun hız değişiminin sağlanması, bu çevirici devresi kullanılabilmektedir. Bir fazlı z-kaynaklı matris çevirici devresinin çalışma prensipleri incelenmiş devre MATLAB/Simulink ortamında hazırlanıp, değişik frekanslar ve çıkış gerilimi değerleri için devrenin benzetimi yapılmış ve elde edilen sonuçların bir kısmı paylaşılmıştır. Modellenen çeviricinin hem düşürme ve hem de yükseltme modunda farklı çıkış frekanslı gerilimler verdiği gözlenmiştir.

Bu makalede, değişken bir çıkış gerilimi ve kademeli olarak değişen bir çıkış frekansı elde etmek için tek fazlı matris dönüştürücü ile birlikte Z-kaynak ağı kullanılan bir alternatif akım-alternatif akım (AA-AA) dönüştürücü yapısı incelenmiştir. Bu dönüştürücü yapısında, çıkış gerilimi ve frekansı hem düşürülebilmekte hem de yükseltilebilmektedir. Matris dönüştürücü, doğrudan AA-AA dönüşüm yaparken anahtarlama stratejisi ile çıkış frekansını kademeli olarak değiştirme imkânı sağlamaktadır. Ayrıca, doğrudan AA-AA dönüştürme özelliği sayesinde, geleneksel dönüştürücülerde kullanılan büyük bir DA bağlantı kondansatörüne olan ihtiyacı ortadan kaldırmıştır. Böylece sistem hem daha az maliyetli hem de daha az karmaşık bir yapıya sahip olmaktadır. Bu çalışmada, çeşitli uygulamalarda farklı hız değerlerini elde etmek için kullanılan tek fazlı asenkron motoru sürmek için tek fazlı Z-kaynaklı matris dönüştürücü kullanılmıştır. Bu yapı, asenkron motorun başlatılmasında veya kademeli bir hıza ihtiyaç duyan asenkron motorun hız kontrolünde kullanılabilmektedir. Tek fazlı Z-kaynaklı matris dönüştürücü MATLAB/Simulink ortamında modellenerek simülasyonu yapılmış ve farklı frekans değerleri için simülasyon sonuçları hem direnç-bobin (RL) yükü için hem de tek fazlı asenkron motor için sunulmuştur. Dönüştürücü akım ve geriliminin harmonik spektrumu da incelenerek, harmonik bozulma değerleri farklı frekanslar için verilmiştir.
