Single-longitudinal-mode, tunable dual-wavelength,CW Nd:YVO4laser

Abstract: We report a single-longitudinal-mode CW diode-pumped Nd:YVO(4) laser emitting at both 1064 and 1342 nm with 10% optical efficiency at 20-W pump power. The measured spectral widths at 1064 and 1342 nm were less than 450 MHz and 400 MHz, respectively. The two emission wavelengths can be independently tuned over the lasing bandwidths of the dual-wavelength laser.

“…Glycogen synthase kinase 3b (GSK3b), for example, has been causally linked to ER stress-induced apoptosis, upstream of caspase-9 activation, in a number of systems (Song et al, 2002;Srinivasan et al, 2005;Brewster et al, 2006;Takadera et al, 2007). GSK3b is activated by dephosphorylation at Ser9; an event which may be mediated either directly or indirectly by PP2A (Song et al, 2002;Chen et al, 2004a;Srinivasan et al, 2005;Lin et al, 2007). How GSK3b is involved in ER stress-induced apoptosis is unclear.…”

“…After Bethea first introduced a dual-wavelength Nd:YAG laser in 1987 [1], dual-wavelength lasers for different transitions have been reported for crystals such as Nd:YAG [2][3][4][5][6], Nd:YLF [7], Nd:YVO 4 [8][9][10][11][12], Nd:GdVO 4 [13][14][15][16][17], Nd:LuVO 4 [18], and Nd:YAP [19,20]. Coherent continuous wave (cw) RGB (red, green, and blue) light sources have become interesting for many technical applications in medicine, and projector and laser television.…”

“…Usually, multilongitudinal-mode lasers oscillate in a common standing wave cavity due to the spatial hole burning in gain medium. Some techniques were used to generate SLM Lasers, for example, using a twisted-mode (TM) cavity [1][2][3][4] or a ring cavity [5][6][7] to eliminate the spatial hole-burning in gain medium, inserting etalons or gratings in cavity to depress other longitudinal-mode gain [8][9][10][11], microchip lasers [12][13][14], doublecavity lasers [15,16], and injection-seeding lasers [17,18]. Compared with other technologies, using a TM cavity is a simple, useful way to obtain SLM lasers.…”
