Background: Root canal sealers play a crucial role in the success of endodontic treatment. The fracture resistance of endodontically treated teeth is an important consideration as it indicates the ability of the tooth to withstand functional forces and prevents vertical root fractures. Therefore, the aim of this study was to compare the effect of Ceraseal, Guttaflow Bioseal and AH Plus root canal sealers on the fracture resistance of endodontically treated teeth. Methods: Fourty-five lower premolars were decoronated and divided into one control group and two experimental groups where Group A (n = 15) (Control): canal preparation was done with Protaper Gold system and obturated with AH Plus sealer, Group B (n = 15): canal preparation was done with Protaper Gold system and obturated with Ceraseal sealer and Group C (n = 15): canal preparation was done with Protaper Gold system and obturated with GuttaFlow Bioseal sealer. All root canals were obturated using single cone obturation technique and evaluated radiographically. Roots were then mounted and a universal testing machine was used to assess root fracture resistance. Results: The highest mean value was recorded in Group (A) AH Plus (651.19±61.97), with a significantly lower value recorded in Group (C) GuttaFlow Bioseal (556.16±36.24), followed by Group (B) Ceraseal (511.71±53.5). One-way ANOVA test revealed a significant difference between groups. Post hoc Bonferroni test revealed that the difference between group B and group C was not statistically significant. Conclusion: AH Plus improved the fracture resistance of endodontically treated teeth in comparison with Ceraseal and GuttaFlow Bioseal.

Aim: The aim of this study is to evaluate the retreatability of bioceramic sealers (Endosequence BC, Totalfill BC, MTA-Fillapex) used with single cone obturation technique. Materials and methods: Root canal of forty single rooted human mandibular premolar teeth were prepared with ProTaper Next rotary system up to X3 and obturated with single cone technique (n=10) using endosequence BC (A), Totallfill BC (B), MTA-Fillapex (C) and Zinc oxide (D) sealer, after two weeks, all samples retreated with ProTaper Universal Retreatment rotary files. regaining of working length and apical patency was evaluated. All samples longitudinally sectioned and assessed by Scanning electron microscope to evaluate the residual filling materials and the data statistically analyzed. Results: The least amount of residual filling materials was found in group D-ZOE (1.43) followed by group C-MTA-Fillapex (1.50) and B-Totalfill BC (1.57) respectively. While, the greater amount was in group A-Endosequence BC (1.87). Furthermore, the working length was re-gained 100% of all samples.Whereas, the patency regained in group A, B, C and D was 90%, 80%, 90%,100% respectively. Conclusion: None of the root canal filling materials could be completely removed. The greater amount of residual filling materials was observed in bioceramic sealers than the ZOE sealer. Furthermore, the working length regained 100% of samples. While, there was loss of patency in some cases.

The main aim of the endodontic therapy consists of the tridimensional obturation of the endodontic space. The efforts for an ideally processed and sterilized root canal are questioned if the same is not obturated completely. The aim of this paper is to evaluate and determine the percentage of the volume of empty spaces and spaces of root canals obturated with different materials for obturation with the help of a microcomputer -tomography. This paper includes 80 frontal human extracted teeth. The teeth were divided in two bigger groups according to the technique of processing of the root canal: The first group consisted of 40 human single root teeth processed according to the standard technique of processing and obturated with gutta-flow and Thermafill. The second group consisted of 40 human single root teeth processed according to the ultrasonic technique of root canals processing and obturated with single cone and lateral compaction technique. Statistically significant differences have been registered between the root canals obturated with Thermafill and the Single cone technique (p<0.05). Statistically significant differences have been registered between the root canals obturated with GuttaFlow and the Single cone technique (p<0.01) and the Single cone and the technique of lateral condensation (p<0.01).
